Patna : India scored 199/2 in 20 overs in 1st T20I against Sri Lanka (SL) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, Uttar Pradaesh, as opner Ishan Kishan scored 89 in 56 balls hammering 10 fours and 3 sixes while Shreyas Iyer scored an explosive unbeaten 57 in 28 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. SL had won the toss and opted.
Batting first, openers Rohit Sharma (captain) and Ishan Kishan added 111 runs in only 71 balls. Rohit fell to fast medium bowler Lahiru Kumar for 44 in 32 balls with 2 fours and 1 six and it was 111/1. Ishan Kishan fell to medium fast bowler Dasun Shanaka ( captain) for 89 making it 155/2. Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ( not out) added 44 runs in only 18 ball at a blistering paces. India scored 69 runs in last 5 overs.
Ishan Kishan hit fast medium bowler Lahiru Kumara for a six and 2 fours on successive balls in 16th over. Iyer, on the other hand, hammered fast medium bowler Chakika Karunaratne for a six and 2 fours in 19th over. Iyer also hit fast bowler Dushmanta Chameera for a six and a four in 20th over.
Chasing a target of 200 runs, SL were 10/1 after 1.2 overs.
