Places associated with Sikh Gurus to be developed as Guru Circuit: Nitish

Patna: Addressing the 350th birth anniversary celebrations (Guruparva) of tenth and last Guru of Sikhs, Guru Govind Singh, in the presence of PM Narendra Modi on January 5,Bihar CM Nitish Kumar appealed for nationwide prohibition.
Nitish lauded PM Modi for rigorously enforcing prohibition in Gujarat during his 12 year-tenure as chief minister. Nitish said prohibition was imposed in Gujarat since the creation of the state, but Narendra Modi strictly enforced it further. He claimed there had been total peace and tranquility in Bihar since prohibition was enforced in April 2016. Family tension has become a thing of past after prohibition, he said and suggested there should be a ban on liquor throughout the country.
Nitish said Bihar government had started preparation for the Guruparva two years back and infrastructure were developed near the birth place of Guru Govind Singh. Close co-ordibation was established with Punjab government too, he said.

The Bihar CM announced the places associated with Sikh Gurus from Guru Nanak to Guru Govind Singh at Patna City, Danapur, Rajgir, Bhagalpur, Sasaram, Gaya, Munger, Ara and Katihar would be developed into a Guru circuit. Guru Ka bagh, where Guru Govind Singh is believed to have spent his childhood would be developed into a park. Nitish said the state government would now organise programmes for the year long celebartions of Champaran Satyagrah of Mahatama Gandhi.

Earlier, Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal complimented Nitish for the excellent arrangements made for the Parva and said Bihar CM took keen interest in organising the month-long programme.  Badal described PM Narendra Modi as the great leader of the Universe.

Union ministers RamVilas Paswan and Ravishankar Prasad were present on the dais at Dashmesh Maidan along with PM. However, RJD president Lalu Prasad and his two ministers son: Tejeshwi and Tejpratap, who had reached the Maidan earlier in the day, were seated in the gallery reserved for VIPs.

The PM released a commemorative postal stamp in the memory of Guru Govind Singh.
