Bagaha: Keeping in view sugarcane growers’ need for Rabi sowing, sugarcane plantation, marriages of their sons and daughters and treatment of ailing family members, Tirupati sugar mill, Bagaha, has paid all arrears of the growers up to November 30, 2016, amounting to Rs 18.5 crore within 10 days of start of crushing season.
General manager (personnel) Y S Bhatanagar said that payment has been made in three instalments. Bhatanagar said that according Bihar sugarcane supply and purchase Act, it is mandatory for sugar mills to make payment for sugarcane to the famers within a fortnight of supply of sugarcane. But, the management has started the payment within only five days, he said.
