Patna : Active cases further dropped to 44,907 in Bihar on May 22, 2021, from 49,311 the previous day, as only 4,375 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the state on May 21, 2021. Bihar, however, recorded 103 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the tally to 4,442 in the state on May 22, 2021. The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients rose to 92.80 % in the state on May 22 from 92.12% on May 21, 2021.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on May 22, 2021, released through video conference a Mobile Van providing for RT-PCR tests of samples. Deputy Chief Ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, and Health Minister Mangal Pandey attended the function.
The 4,375 Covid-19 cases included 725 in Patna, 404 in Muzaffarpur, 216 in Samastipur, 197 in Begusarai, 190 in Gaya, 185 in Katihar, 155 in Purnia, 145 in Gopalganj, 133 in West Champaran, 131 in Supaul, 125 in Siwan, 122 in East Champaran, 119 in Madhubani, 117 in Vaishali, 116 in Araria, 114 in Munger, 100 in Nalanda, and 90 in Bhagalpur. The state had recorded 5,154 new deaths on May 21, 2021. The state has tested 2,88,75,658 samples so far including 1,40,514 samples on May 21, 2021.
The 103 new deaths included 19 in West Champaran, 11 in Begusarai, 10 in Patna, 8 in Saran, 8 in Arwal, 4 in Munger, 4 in Rohtas, 4 in Siwan, 4 in Araria, 3 in Madhubani, 3 in Lakhisarai, 3 in Buxar, 2 in Nalanda 2 in Muzaffarpur, 2 in Samastipur, 2 in Sitamarhi, 2 in Darbhanga, and 2 in Jamui.
With it the Covid-19 death toll rose to 1,135 in Patna, 269 in West Champaran, 264 in Muzaffarpur, 255 in Bhagalpur, 217 in Nalanda, 176 in Gaya, 164 in Darbhanga, 143 in Saran, 128 in Munger, 103 in Madhubani, 103 in Rohtas, 98 in Siwan, 86 in Begusarai, 85 in Samastipur, 80 in Nawada, 78 in Madhepura, 72 in Sitamarhi, 55 in Buxar, 52 in Araria, 44 in Purnia, 39 in Arwal, 33 in Jamui, 33 in Saharsa, 31 in Gopalganj, 27 in Kaimur, 25 in Khagaria,
