New Delhi : Single day recoveries of Covid-19 patients continued to exceed the count of new cases in last 24 hours in India for the 7th consecutive day. A total of 3,69,077 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours, down from 3,89,851 on May 19, taking the tally to 2,23,55,440 at 8 am on May 20, 2021. On the other hand, altogether 2,76,110 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the country in last 24 hours, up from 2,67,334 on May 19, taking the count to 2,57,72,440 on May 20, 2021.

India recorded 3,874 new Covid deaths in last 24 hours, down from 4,529 new deaths on May 19,  taking the count to 2,87,122 on May 20, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 86.74% in India on May 20 from 86.23% on May 19, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

Active cases dropped 31,29,878 in India on May 20, 2021, down from 32,26,719 on May 19, 2021, and accounted for 12.14% of the total Covid-19  cases (2,57,72,440) recorded so far in the country, a massive drop of 96,841 cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 32,23,56,187 samples so far including 20,55,010 samples on May 19, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 18,70,09,792 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 11,66,090 beneficiaries on May 19, 2021.

The new 3,874 deaths due to Covid-19 included 594 in Maharashtra, 468 in Karnataka, 365 in Tamilnadu, 280 in Uttar Pradesh, 235 in Delhi, 208 in Punjab, 193 in Uttarakhand, 157 in West Bengal, 153 in Haryana, 146 in Chhattisgarh, 139 in Rajasthan, 112 in Kerala, 106 in Andhra Pradesh, 104 in Bihar, 89 in Assam, 88 in Madhya Pradesh, 69 in Himachal Pradesh, 62 in J&K, 53 in Jharkhand, 24 in Meghalaya, and 23 in Manipur.
