Ara : Some unidentified miscreants shot at and injured an elderly person in Ibrahimnagar locality under Ara town police station (PS) in the wee hour on May 8, 2021, when he was sleeping on veranada of his relative’s house.

The injured was rushed to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctors referred him to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) though the family members took him to a private nursing home at Babu Bazaarat Ara where the doctor operated on him and took out three bullets from his body. An FIR was lodged with Ara town police station in this connection. Police are investigating the matter. Land dispute is said to the cause behind the incident. The injured was identified as Shekhar Gond, 60, son of late Suraj Gond of Nai Bazaar under Buxar town police station in Buxar district.

SHO, Ara town police station, said that Shekhar Gond of Buxar had come to his relative Vikrama Gond in Ibrahimnagar locality under Ara town police station to attend a marriage ceremony on April 30, 2021. After taking meal on May 7, 2021, he was sleeping on a veranada of the house when some unidentified armed miscreants reached there in the wee hour on May 8, 2021, and pumped three bullets into his body and escaped. Shrawn Kumar, son of Vikrama Gond, said that he had some enmity over a piece of land with ward councillor and that might be the reason behind the incident.
