Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested three criminals including the mastermind of the gang and liner from behind the private bus stand near Hall Mohan at Jagdishpur in Bhojpur District in South Bihar and also recovered some looted jewellery, a countrymade pistol, six live cartridges, one mobile phone, and Rs 38,000 cash, in gold jewellery and cash from a jeweller at New Karman Tola under Nawada police station (PS), Ara, recently.
The arrested miscreants were identified as Bunty Kumar Paswan of Bahiro, Rahul Kumar and Shashi Bhushan alias Bhola of Karman Tola under Nawada PS.
SHO, Nawada PS, said that a jeweller Laxman Prasad Gupta of Bichali Road under Ara Town PS was going to Ara railway station on February 15, 2021, with Gold jewellery weighing about 100 gram on his motorcycle.When he reached near Karman Tola behindĀ Maharaja College under Nawada PS, six armed criminals intercepted him and snatched gold jewellery worth about Rs 5 lakh, mobile phone, purse ,and Rs 10,000 cash at pistol point and escaped firing in the air, the SHO said.
An FIR was lodged by Nawada PS in this connection on the statement of jeweller Laxman Prasad Gupta. After institution of FIR, police swung into action and Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai formed a police team and directed it to arrest the miscreants and recover the looted articles. The police team following mobile surveillance and CCTV footage, arrested three of the six criminals including the mastermind of the gang and the liner. Police are still conducting raids to arrest the rest of the miscreants.
