Ara : Two persons including a reporter were killed on the spot on January 28, 2021, night,  when their car rammed a Container parked near Bagawa railway crossing under Gadhani police station (PS) in Bhojpur District.

The deceased were identified as Kunal Deep Singh, 30, son of Satyendra Singh of village Barap under Gadhani PS, and Gauri Shankar  Shukla, 30, son of Surendra Shukla, a rice mill owner of village Dhamania  under Gadhani PS. Irate villagers blocked the Ara-Sasaram main road near Bagawa railway crossing with the bodies. They burnt tyres and raised slogans against the SHO, Gadhnai PS, and the Bhojpur District Administration. They were demanding action against SHO, Gadhni PS, and compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.

SDPO Pankaj Kumar Rawat along with police force rushed to the spot and persuaded the agitating villagers to remove blockade. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officials. Later, police brought the bodies over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

SDPO Pankaj Kumar Rawat said that Kunal Deep Singh and Gauri Shankar Shukla had come to Ara to attend a birthday party at a hotel in the evening on January 28, 2021. They were returning to their native village in the night and reached Gadhani. Gauri Shankar Shukla was going to drop his friend Kunal Deep Singh to Barap but his car rammed a Container parked near Bagawa railway crossing in which both were killed on the spot.

The villagers said that they had requested SHO, Gadhani PS, several times to remove the Container from near the Bagawa railway crossing but to no avail. They were demanding departmental action against the SHO for dereliction of duty.
