Ara : Police conducted raids at different places in Bhojpur District in South Bihar on January 18, 2021, and seized  1,009 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Police also arrested three liquor smugglers and a driver.

Police, on a tip off, seized a big consignment of liquor from a Pick-Up van on Koelwar-Chhapara main road on January 18, 2021, late evening,  and arrested the driver of the of vehicle. The arrested driver was identified as Mukesh Kumar of Balwan Tola under Doriganj police station in Saran district. He was carrying the consignment from Pojhi Bhualpur under Marhaura police station in Saran District in North Bihar.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishsore Rai said that police got information that a big consignment of liquor was being smuggled after which they launched vehicle checking drive near Babura Chhotaki Bridge. Police intercepted a Pick-Up van on suspicion and checked it and seized 900 litre of liquor kept under the pile of husk. The SP stated that the registration number of the Pick-up van was also found fake.

The SP stated that the driver confessed during interrogation that the liquor belonged to his relative. The driver revealed that he was given the vehicle near Dharahara and was going to Chhapra. The SP said that police are conducting raids at his revelation to arrest his relative.

In another development, police seized 998 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a truck loaded with rice near Tetaria Mor under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur District  on January 18, 2021, late evening, and arrested its driver. Police also seized the ten-wheeler truck the registration number of which is said to be fake. The liquor consignment was being smuggled to Mammalia Chowk, Siwan, from Asansol in West Bengal.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that police got information that a big consignment was being smuggled via Udwantnagar. Police at once launched vehicle checking drive near Tetaria Mor under Udwantnagar police station. In the meantime, a truck loaded with rice came and  police stopped it. During checking, police recovered 998 cartons of IMFL kept under the bags of rice. The SP said that the liquor smugglers were issuing instructions to the driver through mobile phones. He said that police are conducting raids to arrest the liquor smugglers.

In yet another development, police seized 11 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from two auto-rickshaws near Chanda village on Jokhari-Gaziapur main road under Sinha police outpost, Ara, on January 18, 2021, late evening, and also arrested two liquor smugglerrs. The IMFL was being smuggled in two auto-rickshaws from Balia in Uttar Pradesh to Ara via Khawaspur police outpost crossing the Mahuli Ghat Pontoon bridge.

The arrested liquor smugglers were identified as Pappu Kumar of Bhaluhipur and Abhishek Kumar alias Vikki Kumar of Bind Toli under Ara town police station. A named FIR was lodged with  Ara town police station under Prohibition & Excise Act against the arrested liquor smugglers and they were sent to jail after interrogation.
