Patna : Australia drubbed India by 66 runs in the 1st ODI at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, Australia, on November 27, 2020, with Captain Aaron Finch (opener) scoring 114 in 124 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes and Steven Smith playing an explosive knock of 105 in only 66 balls hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes and spinner Adam Zampa taking 4/54 and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood taking 3/55. Smith was declared Player Of The Match.

Chasing a target of 375, India could score only 308/8 in 50 overs with all-rounder Hardik Pandya scoring 90 in 76 balls hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes and opener Shikhar Dhawan scoring 74 in 86 balls with 10 fours. Fast bowler Navdeep Saini remained unbeaten on 29 in 35 balls hitting a four and a six.
