New Delhi : The surge in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India reaching 24,67,758 at 8 am on August 26, 2020, registering an increase of 63,173 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases by 17,60,491.

India has reported 32,34,474  COVID-19 cases till date of which 24,67,758 ( 76.30%) patients have been declared cured. The number of active cases in the country was 7,07,267 (21.87%) on August 26, 2020. A total of 3,76,51,512 COVID-19 samples were tested in the country till August 25, 2020, including 8,23,992 on August 25.

Altogether 5,14,790 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,32,454 in Tamilnadu, 2,78,247 in Andhra Pradesh, 2,04,439 in Karnataka, 1,47,743 in Delhi, and 1,44,754 in UP till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll in the country jumped to 59,449 on August 26, 2020, with 1,059 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 329 from Maharashtra, 148 from Karnataka, 107 from Tamilnadu, 92 from Andhra Pradesh, 72 from UP, 58 from West Bengal, 49 from Punjab, 20 from Gujarat, 19 from MP, and 17 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.84% in the country.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 25, 2020, is : Maharashtra (22,794), Tamilnadu (6,721), Delhi (4,330), Karnataka (4,958), Gujarat (2,928), Andhra Pradesh (3,460), Uttar Pradesh (3,059), West Bengal (2,909), Madhya Pradesh (1,265), Rajasthan (980),  Punjab (1,178), Telengana (780), J&K (638), Haryana (623), Bihar (519), Odisha (428), Jharkhand (347), Assam (260), Uttarakhand (213), Kerala (244),  Chhattisgarh (221), Puducherry (172), Goa (157), Tripura (83), Chandigarh (40),  Andaman & Nicobar (37), Himachal Pradesh (30), Ladakh (24), Manipur (24), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (8), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 644  in the state on August 25, 2020.
