Patna : England won the three-match test series against Pakistan 1-0 after the rain interrupted third test at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, UK, ended in a draw on August 25, 2020, but not before James Anderson, 38, became the first fast bowler in the world to take 600 wickets in tests. England had recently defeated West Indies 2-1 in a three-match test series. It was England’s first series win against Pakistan in ten years.
Anderson has taken the wicket of Sachin Tendular, India, nine times in tests. He had taken his first test wicket in 2003 and his 50th wicket was M S Dhoni, India, and 100th Jacques Kallis, South Africa. Anderson’s 600th wicket was Pakistan captain Azhar Ali, who had scored 141 in his team’s first innings in the 3rd test. England fast bowler Stuart Broad has taken 514 test wickets.
England had declared their first innings in 3rd test at 583/8 while Pakistan were all out for 273 in their first innings and 187/4 in their 2nd innings on day 5 with Babar Azam scoring an unbeaten 63 with 8 fours and Asad Shafiq batting on 21. Anderson, who took 5/56 in Pakistan’s first innings, took 2/45 in 2nd innings.
England batsman Zak Crawley, 22, who scored 267 in his team’s first innings, was declared Player of the Match. Jos Buttler, who scored 152 in England’s first innings, was declared Player of the series for England while Mohd Rizwan was Player of the Series for Pakistan.
