Gadak causing erosion in Gopalganj village

Gopalganj: Altogether 20 houses have been damaged due to erosion caused by river Gandak at village Vishambharpur under Kuchaikot block in Gopalganj district in the past 24 hours. The river is eroding its banks menacingly triggering panic among the villagers.

Several families are leaving their houses in fear.  Kalamatihaniya panchayat’s Mukhia Saira Khatoon claimed houses of 20 villagers including Nangina Tiwary, Subhash Tiwary, Jaleshwar Mahto, Baleshwar Mahto, Parson Mahto, Jalebi Sah and Kisan Yadav have been swallowed by the river. She said that the river has completely damaged a road constructed recently at a cost of Rs 14.5 lakh. Kuchaikot Circle Officer Amit Ranjan said that the officials are carrying out  evacuation work in the affected village.
