Patna: RJD’s national executive committee member Mohammad Shahbuddin, who was shifted from Siwan district jail to Bhagalpur central jail on Thursday, was allegedly entertained by a senor RJD leader and minister in Nitish Kumar cabinet at Muzaffarpur and was joined by other RJD leaders, alleged the leader of opposition in Bihar legislative council Sushil Kumar Modi.
Modi said the district administration arranged an air-conditioned SUV for Shahbuddin for his travel to Bhagalpur in police custody. Four other vehicles followed the former MP from Siwan to Bhagalpur, he said and regretted the IG( prisons), in his instruction, said Shahbuddin was being shifted from Siwan for six months only. Shahbuddin was allowed to hold his own darbar in the jail, Modi regretted.
In a statement here, Modi said Bihar CM Nitish Kumar should have courage to tell RJD president Lalu Prasad to remove Shahabuddin from the party as he as JD(U) president had taken action against its four legislators including Manorama Devi, MLC, who was suspended last week.
Shahbuddin was shifted from Siwan following complaints of irregularities in jail where 63 visistors were found at his ward during a surprise raid by Diwan DM and SP on Wednesday. Police had recovered mobile sets from his ward and a SIM card of Middle East suspecting link of international criminals with the jailed former MP whose name had surfaced as conspirator in the murder of Siwan journalist last week.Police had found evidence to suggest 36 calls were made from jail to Upendra Singh, a shooter who was arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Rajdev Ranjan at Siwan. The administration on Friday morning shifted seven close associates of Shahbuddin lodged in Siwan jail to Motirahi jail. They include three who were arrested following journalist’s murder. RJD president Lalu Prasad has kept mum on the latest developments leading to shifting of his senior party leader from Siwan jail to Bhagalpur.
