Ara : Bhojpur district celebrated its 47th foundation day at Veer Kuer Singh Stadium, Ramana Maidan, on November 10, 2019, with fanfare. The foundation day function was organised by Bhojpur district administration.
RJD MLAs : Nawaz Alam, Prabhunath Ram, Ram Kishun Singh Lohia, District Board Chairperson Arati Devi, District Board Deputy Chairperson Phulwanti Devi, Mayor, Ara Municipal Corporation, Ruby Tiwari, Deputy Maoyr Pushpa Singh Kushwaha, Radha Charan Seth, MLC, were prominent among those present on the occasion besides Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha, SP Sushil Kumar, ASP Nitin Kumar, ADM Mumar Manglam, DTO Madhav Singh, District Welfare Officer Dilendra Kumar, SDO, Arun Prakash, and Deputy Development Commissioner Anshul Agrawal.
The Backward and Extremely Backward Class Welfare Minister, Government of Bihar cum Minister Incharge, Bhojpur, Vinod Kumar Singh, who was scheduled to inaugurate the function could not turn up and so in his absence Bhojpur District Magistrate Routshan Kuamr, SP Sushil Kumar, DDC Anshul Agrawal, MLC, Radha Charan Seth, MLAs Nawaz Alam, Ram Vishun Singh Lohia, Mayor, Ruby Tiwari and Chairperson, Bhojpur District Board, Arti Devi, jointly inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial candle. They also released doves, symbol of peace, and balloons in the air. The students of Dr Nemichand Girls High School sang a welcome note and also presented Ganesh Vandana.
Addressing the gathering, DM Kushwaha that the Shahabad area is known as the land of Babu Kuer Singh and added people from Bihar or outside Bihar read about historical events that happened in Shahabad. He said that the construction of Abdul Bari Bridge over river Sone at Koelwar started in 1856 and completed in 1862 and it is an eye witness of the First War of Independence in 1857, Buxar and Chausa battles. He said that the old Shahabad district was divided into two districts : Bhojpur and Rohtas in 1972.Bhojpur District was further divided into two: Bhojpur and Buxar in 1992, the DM said. He said that youth have to play a vital role in development of country as they are major a population. He advised the people to maintain eco-system and preserve water and greenery of the area.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that people from every strata of society contributed a lot in the progress and development of the area. He said that Ara was the only town that was given status of ‘Vidrohi Shahar’ in the country during first war of Independence and only Ara was freed from the yoke of Britishers for some days. People of Bhojpur contributed in every field in the country and added that Bhojpuri is the second official language in Bihar.
Ara MLA Nawaz Alam, Agiaw MLA Prabhunath Ram, Jagdishpur MLA Ram Vishun Singh Lohia, and Chairperson, District Board, Arti Devi, said that Bhojpur is a historical district and famous worldwide.Mayor, AMC, Ruby Tiwari, stressed on plantation to maintain balance of environment and greenery in Ara.
Earlier, at least 5000 boys and girls of different schools took out a ‘prabhat pheri’ in the morning from Ramana Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town.
Kabaddti, Archery Kho-Kho and Painting competitions were also organised and prizes were given to the successful participants. A colourful cultural programme was organised to mark the occasion.
