Patna : Top seed Dominic Thiem, 26, Austria, the World No 5, beat 5th seed Diego Schwartzman, 27, Argentina, in a three-set thriller in the final to win the Erste Bank Open ( Vienna Open) title at Vienna, Austria, on October 27, 2019, night. This is Thiem’s first Vienna Open title in ten appearances at the tournament.

Thiem edged past World No 15 Schwartzman 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in 2hr 25 minutes in the final battling back from one set down firing 9 Aces in the match. Schwartzman committed 3 double faults to 1 by Thiem. The Austrian won 4 break points in the match to 3 by the Argentine. Thiem also won 5 games in a row to 3 by Schwartzman in the match. Thiem had also defeated 3rd seed Matteo Berrettini, 23, Italy, in three-set rallying back from one set down in the semi-finals.
