Muzaffarpur : Eight girl  inmates of  Muzaffarpur Girls’ Shelter Home, who are at present staying at Mokma Girls’ Shelter Home in Patna District, would behanded over to their parents belonging to different villages in North Bihar  on October 31, 2019, according to Child Protection and Welfare  Department  sources.

These girls were inmates of Muzaffarpur Girls’ Shelter Home but after the report of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, that they were being tortured and even sexually exploited by its there allegedly by the management, Bihar Government had shifted them to Mokma Shelter Home. All the  district officials  of Child Protection Units concerned have been directed by the State Headquarters to remain present at Patna at the time of when these girls are handed over to their parents.

A TISS team had visited  the native villages of these 8 girls in different districts in September 2019. The parents of these girls  had expressed their desire to take their wards back. After that TISS presented its report submitted to the  Supreme Court. The Apex Court  had directed the authorities to hand over these girls to their parents if they wish. Mohammad Tariq  who headed the TISS team, will be present at Patna at the time of release of these girls.
