Patna : Electing to bat after winning the toss, India were 77/1 in 25 overs at lunch in their first innings on Day 1 of the 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on October 10, 2019, with opener Mayank Agarwal unbeaten on 34 in 80 balls with 7 fours and Cheteswar Pujara batting on 19 in 39 balls with 3 fours. Agarwal and Pujara have so far added 52 runs in 93 balls in an unbroken partnership for the second wicket..

Opener Rohit Sharma, who had scored century in both innings of the 1st test as an opener, fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for 14 in 35 balls with 1 four making it 25/1.

India dropped Hanuma Vihari and brought in fast bowler Umesh Yadav for this test.
