Patna : Top seed and World No 5 Dominic Thiem, 26, Austria, and 3rd seed and World No 7 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 21, Greece, entered the final of China Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points event, at Beijing, China, on October 5, 2019.

Thiem, who is bidding for his 4th title of the season, edged past World No 9 Karen Khachanov, 23, Russia, the 4th seed, in a three-set slugfest lasting 2hrc41 minutes in the first semi-finals on October 5 battling back from 2-6, 3-5 down to win the match. Thiem won the second set in 63 minutes and finally won the match 2-6, 7-6, 7-5.

Khachanov though won 6 break points to 5 by Thiem. The Russian also won 4 games in a row to 3 by the Austrian. Khachanov served 5 Aces in the match to 3 by Thiem. The Russian, however, committed 4 double faults to 1 by the Austrian besides some unforced errors. Thiem now leads Khachanov 2-1 Head to Head.

Tsitsipas beat 2nd seed and World No 6 Alexander Zverev, 22, Germany,  7-6, 6-4 in the second semi-finals lasting 1hr 51 minutes to enter the final. Tsitsipas won 4 break points to 3 by Zverev. He also won 5 games in a row 3 by Zverev. The Greek won 46 service points to 45 by the German. Zverev served 4 Aces in the match to 3 by Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas will face Thiem in the final on October 6, 2019. Incidentally, the top four seeds reached
