Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Novak Djokovic, 32, Serbia, and World No 80 John Millman, 30, Australia, will clash in the final of Rakuten Japan Tennis Championships at Koto, Tokyo, Japan, on October 6, 2019.
Djokovic, who is bidding for his 75th tour level title, beat 3rd seed David Goffin, 28, Belgium, 6-3, 6-4 in 89 minutes in the second semi-finals on October 5 saving four break points. Djokovic leads Millman 2-0 Head to Head. Djokovic had defeated Millman in the QFs of US Open in 2018.
Both Djokovic and Goffin fired 7 Aces each in the match. Djokovic won 2 break points to none by Goffin besides winning 3 games in a row. Djokoviv’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 87% 7 52 %) was higher than that of World No 15 Goffin (73% & 50 %). The Serbian won 44 service points to 41 by Goffin, who had reached final of ATP Cincinnati Masters a few weeks back. Djokoviv, who is playing in Japan Open for the first time, now leads Goffin 7-1 Head to Head.
Millman beat World No 53 Reiily Opelka, 22, USA, 6-3, 7-6 in 88 minutes in the first semi-finals. IT is his first final at an ATP 500 points tournament.
