Patna : World No 3 Chen Yu Fei, China, World No 4 and 2017 World Champion Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, World No P V Sindhu, India, and World No 6 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, entered the women’s semi-finals of BWF World Championships at Basel, Switzerland, on August 23, 2019.

Chen Yu FEi beat World No 12 Mia Blichfeldt, Denmark, in a three-game thriller 21-17, 18-21, 21-15 in 75 minutes in the quarter-finals at St Jakobshalle, Basel. Yu Fei won 60 rallies in the match to 53 by Mia. She also won 9 consecutive points to 6 by Mia. Yu Fei now leads Mia 5-1 Head to Head.

Okuhara beat World No 7 He Bing Jiao, China, the 6th seed, 21-7, 21-18 in 43 minutes in quarter-finals. Okuhara won 42 rallies in the match to 25 by Bing Jiao. She also won 8 consecutive points in the match to 5 by the Chinese. Okuhara now leads Bing Jiao 7-1 Head to Head.

Sindhu beat World No 2 Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, in a three-set slugfest 12-21, 23-21, 21-19 in 71 minutes in the quarter-finals coming from behind. Sindhu won 56 rallies in the match to 61 by Tai Tzu. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Tai Tzu, however, still leads Sindhu 10-5 Head to Head. Sindhu will face Chen Yu Fei in the Sfs on August 24, 2019.

Intanon beat World No 32 Yeo Jia Min, Singapore, 21-17, 21-11 in 41 minutes in the quarter-finals. Intanon won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Jia Min. Intanon now leads Jia Min 2-0 Head to Head. She will face Okuhara in the SFs on August 24, 2019..
