Ara: Bhojpur police, acting on a tip off, recovered the truck loaded with Fortune Refined Oil from Nalanda on Sunday and also arrested two members of an inter-district gang of truck hijackers within 24 hours of the incident.
The arrested criminals were identified as Santosh Paswan alias Santosh Kumar of Asoi village under Bhagwanpur police station in Vaishali district and Babloo Kumar of Kandap village under Gaurichak police station in Patna district. The rest six: Mahendra Kumar alias King Mahendra of Nandlal Chhapara under Ram Krishna police station in Patna district, Binod Giri of Barnav under Ayar police station in Bhojpur district, Ritesh Yadav and Mukesh Yadav of Babhana Sangat under Town police station in Jehanabad district, Tinku Sharma of Charui under Ghoshi police station in Jehanabad district and Lalan Paswan of Dubey Khaira under Obra police station in Aurangabad district, are yet to be arrested. Police also recovered Fortune Refined Oil worth Rs 60 lakh loaded on the trucks.
Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that eight armed miscreants in a Bolero intercepted a 10 wheeler truck and a 12 wheeler truck loaded with Fortune Refined Oil between Ekwari Middle School and Guljarpur Petrol Pump under Sahar police station on Maliabag-Buxar main road and hijacked them after making their driver and khalasi captive on August 26, 2016. These trucks were coming from Ghaziabad to Patna via Sahar. The hijackers could, however, hijack only one truck with them as the second truck gut stuck in the mud.
The SP said that immediately after the incident, he formed four police teams and they conducted raids at every possible places. Police collected information about the gangs of truck hijackers from Aurangabad, Patna, Jehanabad and Nalanda and conducted raids. A police team carried out raids at Babhana Sangat village, Ghoshi, Bandhu Ganj and Modan Ganj in Jehanabad. The miscreants escaped with the looted truck from Bandhu Ganj towards Telhara police station highway in Nalanda district but the Bhojpur police team chased them and intercepted them near Bahuara and arrested two hijackers along with looted truck loaded with Fortune Refined Oil worth about Rs. 20 lakh. Police had already recovered another truck that was stuck in the mud and loaded with Fortune Refined Oil worth about Rs 40 lakh.
The SP further said that the arrested hijackers had disclosed the whereabouts of their gang members and police will very soon arrest all of them. He said that the hijacker gang is very active in Patna, Gaya, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad and Vaishali district and is led by King Mahendra alias Mahendra Kumar and Binod Giri.
