Ara Court awards rigorous life imprisonment to rape accused

Ara : Additional District and Session Judge I, Ara, R K Singh, on July 17, 2019, sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment Pramod Upadhayaya Charpokhari police station area in Bhojpur district for outraging modesty of a minor girl in May 2018. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.

Special Public Prosecutor Saroj Kumari said that Pramod Upadhyaya under Charpokhari police station area decoyed and took a minor girl of his village to a secluded place on May 14, 2018, where he outraged her modesty. A named FIR was lodged with  Women’s police station on the statement of girl’s father. The girl was also admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital.

After hearing both the parties, the court found Pramod Upadhyaya guilty of outraging modesty of the minor girl and awarded rigorous life imprisonment to him besides slapping a fine of Rs. 10,000 on him.
