Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested four criminals on July 12, 2019, in connection with firing at the gate of Ara jail two days ago. They were identified as Gorakh Mahto, son of Kamata Mahto of Ibrahgimnagar under Ara Town police station, Chhotu Yadav, son of late Jawahar Yadav, Ibramhimnagar, Rannu, son of Raja Yadav, Ibrahimnagarr, and Shivam, son of Surendra Yadav of Ahirpurva under Ara Town police station.
The for criminals were arrested from different places and police seized pistol, motorcycle, and live cartridges, from their possession. ASP (operations) Nitin Kumar interrogated them at Ara Muffasil police station.
Bhojpur SP Shushil Kumar on July 13, 2019, said that some motorcycle borne armed miscreants had opened fire at the gate of Ara jail on July 11, 2019, afternoon and escaped towards Shivganj locality. Police had recovered four blank cartridges from the spot. The miscreants had resorted to firing allegedly at the behest of inmates of Ara jail Ranjeet Chaudhary and his aides.
An FIR was lodged by Ara Town police station in this regard against five persons : Ranjeet Chaudhary of Belaur under Udwantnagar police station, Abhishek Kumar of Lodipur under Chandi police station, Mamlesh Kumar of Mahuli under Ara Muffassil police station, Gorakh Mahto of Ibrahimnagar under Ara Town Police station, and Vishnu Rai of Bank Colony under Nawada police station, Ara, and three unnamed persons on the written statement of an SI Ram Lakhan Prasad. Ranjeet Chaudhary, Abhishek Kumar, and Mamlesh were booked for hatching conspiracy.
As per the FIR, Chandan and Dhirendra were on sentinel duty at the gate of Ara jail on July 9, 2019, around 10.30 am when a teenage boy came with the meal for an inmate Prakash Chaudhary. But the guards on duty told him that Prakash Chaudhary had been shifted to Beur Jail, Patna, and sent him back. After sometime Ranjeet Chaudhary, Abhishek Kumar, and Mamlesh came at the gate and rebuked the guards for sending the boy back. They also threatened them with dire consequences and asked them not to stop anyone if they come with meal or meet them.
