Patna : South Africa (SA) defeated Australia by 10 runs in the 45th match of CWC at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, UK, on July 6, 2019, late night, with Captain Faf Du Plessis scoring 100 in 94 balls hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes, Rassie van der Dussen scoring 95 in 97 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes, and opener Quinton de Kock 52 in 51 balls with 7 fours.

Opting to bat after winning the toss, SA scored 325/6 in 50 overs. Chasing a target of 326, Australia were all out for 315 in 49.5 overs with opener David Warner scoring 122 in 117 balls hitting 15 fours and 2 sixes. For SA, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 3/56 in 10 overs while Dwaine Pretorius took 2/27 in 6 overs.

With two defeats in 9 matches, Australia finished the league stage with 14 points on points table and will face England in the 2nd semi-finals on July 11, 2019, at Birmingham.
