Ara : Hundreds of villagers blocked Ara-Sasaram main road near village Bagawa under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur district on July 1, 2019, in protest against failure of police to arrest three accused in a rape even after lapse of 48 hours of the incident. The protesters burnt tyres on road paralysing movement of vehicles on the road for about two hours raising slogans against the district police.
SDPO Pankaj Kumar said that a woman had gone to the field to attend call of nature on June 29, 2019, evening, at Bagawa village under Gadhani police station when three persons on motorcycle reached there and forcibly took her to a secluded place and gangraped her. When the woman raised an alarm, the accused escaped from the spot.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and brought the woman over to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination. An FIR has been also been lodged Women’s police station against Chandresh Singh and two others of the village in this connection. Police also brought the woman over to the Ara Civil Court on July 1 to get her statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.
