Two confirmed cases of JE detected in Tirhut Division

Patna : Two confirmed cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE), one each from Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur district, have been detected in Tirhut Division of Bihar this year.

According to Deputy Director, Health, Tirhut Division, Dr A K Singh, an 18 month girl in Sitamarhi district and a two year old boy of Muzaffarpur district have been detected as confirmed cases of JE. Dr Singh has issued instruction for fogging in both the districts to the authorities concerned. He has also directed the respective Civil Surgeon to ensure the proper treatment of the two children. Muzaffarpur DM has directed the CS, Muzaffarpur, to remain alert and ready to combat JE, an infection of brain caused by JE Virus (JEV).

According to an official figure, 21 confirmed cases of JE had been detected in Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar districts in 2018 of which 5 children had died due to it.
