Patna : Taking serious note of gunning down of two Homeguards jawans at Mahua Bazaar in Vaishali district on March 14, 2019, when they were returning after depositing Rs 5 lakh cash in a local bank, IG, Muzaffarpur Zone, N H Khan has constituted special investigation team (SIT) led by Vaishali SP to crack the case and arrest those involved in the crime. The SIT also comprises two DSPs and four Station House Officers (SHOs) of the district.
IG Khan had reached the spot along with a police team on March 14 night. On the directive of state police headquarters, a Bihar STF team is also investigating into the incident.
Sources said that bike-borne criminals had snatched a bag from the jawans and escaped from there but the bag did not contain cash. Four criminals can be seen in the footage of CCTV camera installed in the locality.
It may be mentioned here that armed criminals had opened fire at two Homeguard jawans : Virendra Rai and Manoj Kumar, both posted at the electricity office in Mahua Bazaar locality under Mahua police station in Vaishali district on March 14. One of the jawans died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries later. Sources said that one of the criminals had covered his face.
