Patna : An Aurangabad police team intercepted a Bolero vehicle on Rohtas-Aurangabad main road under Muffasil police
station area and recovered 372 kg explosives from the four-wheeler on late March 14, 2019, night. Acting on Aurangabad SP’s directive, a police team was checking vehicles on Rohtas-Aurangabad main road. The cops stopped a Bolero bearing registration number-UP 63 U/3287 near the check-post.When the cops checked the vehicle, they were stunned to see 372 kg explosives besides 1,000 pieces of Gelatin rods inside the vehicle.
SDPO (Sadar) Anup Kumar said that they saw a four-wheeler coming from Barun side. He said that as the cops waved at the vehicle to stop by waving their torches, the vehicle stopped some distance ahead and two people jumped out of the vehicle and escaped. He said that cops found eight bags having about 372 kg explosives and 1,000 detonators in bundles of 50 each.
Kumar said that prima facie, it seems that the explosive was to be used during Lok Sabha elections for creating disturbances by certain elements. He said that this is an achievement of the district police as the cops had seized such huge quantity of explosives and detonators just before Lok Sabha elections.
The SDPO, Sadar, said that police have lodged an FIR with Muffasil police station against driver and owner of the seized vehicle. He said that investigation is going on.
Police sources said that since Aurangabad and adjoining Gaya and Rohtas districts are naxal-affected districts, police have started carrying out raids in Aurangabad and Gaya district.
