Okuhara sails into 2nd round of All England Badminton Championships 2019

Patna : World No 2 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Nozomi Okuhara, 23, Japan, sailed into the second round of Yonex All England Badmintion Championships 2019 at Birmingham, UK, on March 6, 2019. Okuhara, the 2017 World Champion,  beat World No 15 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, 19, Indonesia, 21-17, 21-16 in 39 minutes in the first round. Okuhara won 42 rallies in the match to 33 by Tunjung. Okuhara now leads Tunjung 3-0 head to head.

World No 30 Cheung Ngan Yi, 25, Hong Kong, beat World No 34 Evgeniya Kosetskaya, 24, Russia, 21-15, 21-9 in 30 minutes in the first round to storm into the second round. Yi won 42 rallies in the match to 24 by Kosetskaya. Yi won consecutive points in the match to 3 by Kosetskaya. Yi leads Kosetskaya 2-0 head to head.
