Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids at village Runni under Sikarhatta police station in Bhojpur district around mid-night on February 13, 2019, arrested two suspected Naxalites with one rifle, one single barrel, one double barrel, two wooden butts, two iron trigger guards, two butt plates, nine screws, one butt cover, two forehead guards and two black flags.

The arrested naxals were identified as Shiv Bihari Rai, son of late Vanshidhar Rai, and Ajit Kumar, son of Shyam Bihari Rai of village Runni under Sikarhatta police station in Bhojpur district. An FIR has been lodged with Sikarhatta police station in this connection. Police are conducting raids to arrest the hardcore naxals.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said on February 14, 2019, said that he got information that some naxals led by a hardcore naxal Shyam Bihari Rai were hatching plan at Runni to unleash terror in the district. He immediately swung into action and formed a police team under the ASP (Operations) Nitin Kumar and SDPO, Piro, Reshu Krishna, and directed it to conduct raids in the area to arrest the naxals. Police at once conducted raids at village Runni and arrested Shiv Bihari Rai and Ajit Kumar though  hardcore naxal, Shyam Bihari Rai escaped from the scene. On the revelation of  arrested naxals, police seized the arms.

The SP said that the arrested naxals owed allegiance to the MCC and were involved in several incidents of naxal violence in the area.
