Ara : Two miscreants demanded Rs 18 lakh from the owner of a sand Ghat at Khangaon under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district Niranjan Singh on January 30, 2019, threatening him dire consequences if he fails to pay the amount.
Niranjan Singh gave a written petition to Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar accusing Prakash Chaudhary of village Belaur under Udwantnagar police station and Neeraj Kumar alias Nepali of village Lodipur under Chandi police station for demanding ‘rangdari’ ( extortion amount) from him and demanded security for him and his family. Taking it seriously, the SP ordered the SHO, Chandi police station, to institute an FIR and arrest the miscreasnts.
Niranjan Singh of village Ekauna under Udwantnagar police station said that sand ghat at Khangaon under Chandi police station was allotted to Broadson Company and Punj Singh of Dhanbad is its director but Punj Singh has assigned the responsibility of Khangaon sand ghat to him (Niranjan Singh). He said that an unknown person called him on his WhatsApp number at about 3.30 pm on January 30 demanding Rs 18 lakh as rangdari with a threat to blow up the sand ghat and also shoot him dead with AK 47 if he fails to pay the amount.
