Ara : Delhi Special Cell police, with the help of their Bhojpur counterpart, arrested an arms smuggler Raj Bahadur, who carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, from Ara on January 30, 2019, for allegedly supplying live cartridges to CPI (Maoist) in Odisha and also seized 35 live cartridges of 35 and .315 calibers from his possession. Raj Bahadur is allegedly involved in a number of illegal activities in Bihar, Odisha and Delhi. Later, Delhi police took him with them.
DCP, Special Cell, Delhi Police, Pramod Singh Kushwaha, said that Raj Bahadur, 35, a resident of Ara was primarily a contractor and three cases under Arms Act are pending against him in Odisha, Bihar, and Delhi. His brother-in-law Ram Krishna purchased live cartridges from Patna based Santosh and supplied the same to Ajit Rai with the help of Sanjay. Raj Bahadur came in contact with Ajit Rai in Mumbai. Odisha police had arrested Ram Krishna and Ajit Rai in 2008 for supplying live cartridges to the Maoists.
Ara police had arrested Raj Bahadur earlier on the charge of murder. Police arrested Ram Krishna with 407 live cartridges on July 12, 2018. During interrogation, Ram Krishna revealed that he brought the cartridges from Raj Bahadur at Ara for supplying the same to Ajit Rai, a Maoist cadre in Maharashtra. Ram Krishan also revealed that he and Sanjay supplied ammunitions to Ajit Rai after purchasing the same from Raj Bahadur of Ara..On his revelation, police also arrested Sanjay in November 2018. The DCP stated that a number of criminal cases were lodged against Ram Krishna in Odisha, Bihar and Delhi.
