Patna : Winner of 17 Grand Slam singles title and World No 2 in ATP rankings Rafael Nadal, 32, Spain, stormed into the Australian Open 2019 final crushing the sensational World No 15 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greec, in straight sets in the semi-finals at Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Australia, on January 24, 2019. It will be Nadal’s fifth appearance at the Ausyralian Open final having won the title in 2009. Nadal has not dropped a set en route the AO final. Tsitsipas was just clueless not knowing what to do against a rampaging Nadal.

Nadal demolished Tsitsipas, who had stunned winner of 20 Grand Slam titles and six-time champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, in the 4th round on January 20, 2019,  6-2, 6-4, 6-0 in 1 hour and 46 minutes with his lethal forehand shots and volleys in a most sought after match of the tournament this year.

Rafa won the first set in just 31 minutes, second in 44 minutes, and third in 31 minutes. A ruthless Rafa was unstoppable in the 3rd set handing over a bagel (6-0) to Tsitsipas giving him a lesson in tennis. Nadal now leads Tsitsipas 3-0 head to head having beaten him in Rogers Cup and Barcellona Open finals in 2018.

It is always a big challenge to play against younger generation, said Nadal after the match. Rafal is playing his first tournament since US Open in September 2018. This will be his 25th Grand Slam finals.
