Patna : World No 9 in ATP rankings Kei Nishikori, 29, Japan, won the men’s singles title Brisbane International, an ATP 250 point event, at Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, on January 6, 2019. Nishikori, the second seed, beat World No 16 Daniil Medvedev, 22, Russia, in three-sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in the final to win the singles title, his first ATP title since 2016. Nishikori had lost 9 finals during last three years.

Medvedev, the 4th seed, fired 8 Aces in the match to 3 by Nishikori. But, he also committed 8 double faults to 3 by Nishikori. Nishikori’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve was better than that of Medvedev. He also won 5 break points to 3 by Medvedev. Nishikori won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by his rival.
