Patna : World No 100 in ATP rankings Ivo Karlovic, 39, Croatia, and Steve Darcis, 34, Belgium, entered the semi-finals of Tata Open Maharashtra, an ATP 250 point tennis tournament, at Pune on January 3, 2019.

Karlovic defeated World No 95 Ernests Gulbis, 30, Latvia, in a tough contest 7-6, 7-6 in the quarter-finals. Karlovic hammered 25 Aces in the match to 10 by Gulbis. No of the two players won any break point in the match. Karlovic committed 4 double faults to 3 by by Gulbis. Karlovic’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve was slightly better than that of Gulbis. Karlovic also won 2 games in a row in the match.

Darcis beat World No 45 Malek Jaziri, 34, Tunisia, 7-5, 6-2 in the quarter-finals. Jaziri, however, fired 6 Aces in the match to just 1 by Darcis. Darcis won 4 break points to 1 by Jaziri. He also won 4 games in a row to 2 by Jaziri.
