Mauritius High Commissioner to India visits Veer Kuer Singh Fort at Jagdishpur

Ara : Jagdish Gowardhan, Mauritius High Commissioner to India, visited the Veer Kuer Singh Fort at Jagdishpur on December 22, 2018, amidst tight security arrangements by Bhojpur district administration. He garlanded the bust of the freedom fighter, first war of Independence in 1857, Veer Babu Kuer Singh, and paid tribute to him. He also visited the historical fort and the museum and saw portraits, photographs and other things related to Babu Kuer Singh. Hundreds of school students and residents of Jagdishpur greeted the Mauritius High Commissioner.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Gowardhan expressed his gratitude to the people of Bhojpur who contributed in making  Mauritius, a  small country of Africa, a leading country in the field of education, health, justice. He said that he was privileged to visit Jagdishpur and added that Bhojpuri language is one of the oldest languages in India.

Jagdish Gowardhan said that the Mauritius government has made it mandatory to send every child to school and if any guardian or parent fails to send his ward to school, he is sent to jail. He said that he was committed to the development of Bhojpuri language and will contribute in intensifying movement for its progress. He appealed the people to work for the development of Bhojpuri language with due respect to their motherland. He distributed book named “Purva Prathmik Bhojpuri Pathya Pustakma” published by Indian Diaspora, World Bhojpuri Centre, and World Bhojpuri Institute, among the people.
