Patna : World No 2 Shi Yuqi, 22, China, comfortably beat World No 1 Kento Momota, 24, Japan, in straight games in the final on December 16, 2018, to win the men’s singles titles at Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Finals 2018 at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China.

Yuqi, the silver medallist at Nanjing, China, world championship 2018, beat reigning world champion Momota 21-12, 21-11 in 49 minutes in the final to win the men’s singles title at BWF World Tour Finals. Yuqi won 42 rallies during the match to 23 by Momot. He won 7 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Momota. Momota now leads Yuqi 3-1 head to head.
