Giridih: Four motorcycle borne criminals looted more than Rs 6.84 lakh from Pachamba branch of SBI, about 5 km from district headquarters Giridih on Tuesday around 10: 30 am when the bank officials were to start their routine activities.
The armed criminal barged into the branch office and overpowered the bank authorities and almost a dozen customers. They forcibly put the customers into a separate room and asked the bank officials to stop all activities within a minute. They also threatened them with dire consequences if they shouted for help.
Soon after getting information, senior district police officials including SP AV Variar, ASP (Operations) Kunal Kumar and DSP Vijay Ashish Kujur visited the place of occurrence and looked into the matter.
“Nothing much can be spoken as our investigation is still going but according to the bank authorities at least four miscreants had entered the branch. While one monitored entire activities from the inlet, remaining three looted the cash,” Kujur said adding that the miscerants also took away the CCTV server and other related equipment before fleeing from the spot. “We have got important leads in the matter and soon nab the criminals,” he said.
