Dhanbad: Advising students to put in their best  in whatever field  they opt for whether games or  studies, Dhanbad railway SP Asim Vikrant Minj on Saturday told them that gone are the days  when sports was being looked down upon   compared to studies several decades ago. Now its matter of excelling in whatever profession one chooses, he said. Minj was addressing scores of students at the inaugural function of two- days badminton championship.

Speaking on the occasion, senior DCM, Railways, Dhanbad, A K Jha said the badminton is one of the fastest indoor games which needs lots of stamina and physical strength besides intelligent placing  to outwit the opponents and as Saina Nehwal and others were excelling on international badminton arena he sees no reasons  why  Dhanbad can’t produce a badminton star.

More than  170 girls and boys school students of 20 school including Dhanbad public school, DAV, Carmel school, Denobili and others  are participating  in the  two- day Inter- school Dhanbad district badminton championship  which was inaugurated at Dhanbad indoor badminton stadium. The matches are played in three groups under- 17, under -15 and under -13 age groups  for boys and girls. Dhanbad badminton  association president  B S P Rai was present on the occasion.
