Ara : Bhojpur district celebrated its 46th foundation day at Veer Kuer Singh Stadium, Ramana Maidan, on November 10, 2018, amidst much fanfare. The foundation day was organised by the Bhojpur district administration and elaborate arrangements were made for the purpose.

Although the district administration had invited almost all the MLAs, MLCs, MP but only RJD MLAs : Nawaz Alam, Arun Kumar, Prabhunath Ram, Ram Kishun Singh Lohia, and CPI (ML) MLA Sudama Prasad and District Board Chairperson Arati Devi were present on the occasion. Former Chairman, Bihar Legislative Council, Awadhesh Narayan Singh, Union Minister and BJP MP from Ara R K Singh, Barhara MLA Saroj Yadav, Shahpur MLA Rahul Tiwari, Sanjeev Shayam Singh, MLC, and Ran Vijay Singh and Mayor, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC), Priyam Devi, were conspicuous by their absence.

Mines and Geology Minister cum Minister Incharge, Bhojpur district, Vinod Kumar Singh, inaugurated the function. He along with the MLAs released doves, symbol of peace, and balloons in the air. The students of Dr Nemichand Girls High School  presented ‘Bharatiyam’ on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Vinod Kumar Singh highlighted the achievements of the government and also castigated the leaders of oppositions in guarded language. Ara MLA Nawaz Alam, Agiaw MLA Prabhunath Ram, and Sandesh MLA Arun Yadav said that Bhojpur is a historical district and famous in the world. CPI (ML) MLA from Tarari Sudama Prasad said that economy of the district is based on agriculture but the farmers remain a neglected lot.

Chairperson, Bhojpur District Board, Arti Devi ,criticised the officials of the Bhojpur district administration for their indifferent attitude towards the people. She highlighted the misdeeds of the district administration. She said that they have to reply to people when their demands were not fulfilled.

Earlier, at least 5,000 boys and girls of different schools took out a ‘Prabhat Pheri’ in the morning from Ramana Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town. ADM Surendra Prasad and District Public Relation Officer Pramod Kumar flagged off the ‘Prabhat Pheri’.

Banks, DRDA, Agriculture department, district administration, Red Cross, ICDS and other NGOs had set up their stalls at the stadium. Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and wrestling, Martial Arts, quiz and painting competitions were also organized and prizes were given to the successful participants. A colourful cultural programme was organized to mark the occasion.
