Ara : A teenage youth Suraj Paswan was shot dead on November 9, 2018, late evening, during immersion of idol of goddess Laxmi at Ara, headquarters of Bhojpur district. Police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem. The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
SDPO Pankaj Kumar said that on November 9 evening a procession was taken out from Pakadi locality under Nawada police station, Ara, for the immersion of idol of goddess Laxmi. On way people were firing in the air. Suraj Paswan, 16, son of Ranjan Paswan, received a bullet and was injured. People rushed him to the Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital. On getting information, police rushed to the spot and seized the body and brought it over to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
