Former Wimbledon finalist Lisicki loses in 1st rounf of WTA Mumbai Open

Patna : World No 225 in ATA rankings and 2013 Wimbledon women’s singles finalist Sabine Lisicki, 29, Germany, lost in the first round of WTA Mumbai Open 2018 to World No 123 Nao Hibino, 23, Japan, on October 30, 2018. This is second edition of the event pled on hard courts.

Hibino, the 8th seed, beat Lisicki in a tough three-set contest 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the round in Mumbai. Hibino will play World No 214 Lu Jiajing, 28, China, in the Round of 16 on November 1, 2018. Jiajing beat Ivana Jorovic, 21, Serbia, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in the first round. World No 127 Sabina Sharipova, 24, Uzbekistan, also entered the second round on October 30.

World No 197 Ankita Raina, 25, India, and World No 215 Karman Kaur Thandi, 20, will play their first match on October 31, 2018.
