Patna : World No 8 in ATP rankings Kevind Anderson, 32, South Africa, lifted the Vienna Open singles title on October 28, 2018, night, defeating World No 11 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan, in the final.

Anderson, who had lost to World No 2 Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, in 2018 Wimbledon final, beat Nishikori in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 at Vienna, Austria. Vienna Open is an ATP world tour 500 points events. Nishikori had defeated top seed and World No 7 Dominic Thiem, 25, Austria, in the quarter-finals.

Anderson hammered 13 Aces in the match to just 2 by Nishikori. Nishikori committed 3 double faults to 1 by Anderson, who also won a break points. Anderson also won 3 games in a row in the match. Nishikori though put up a strong resistance in the second set taking it to tiebreak.

The 2017 winner of the tournament and World No 23 Lucas Pouille, 24, France, lost in the Round of 16 in 2018. Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga, France, the 2017 finalist and World No 113, had lost in the first round this year.
