Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids at village Pritampur under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district on July 9, 2018, night, and arrested Rangila Pandit in connection with a double  murder, nine months after the crime.

SHO, Tarari police station, Shashikant, said that on the direction of Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar, a police team conducted raids and arrested Rangila Pandit. The SHO said that Rangila Pandit had axed to death two elderly widows at village Sedaha under Tarari police station on October 17, 2017,  to capture their properties.

The SHO said that late Vishwanath Singh had two wives: Motijharo Kuer and Kanti Kuer. He also had four bighas of land at village Sedaha. After his death about five years ago, Kanti Kuer had donated two bighas of land to her daughter and son-in-law. But their nephew (bhanja) Rangila Pandit wanted to capture all the lands of his maternal uncle. After Kanti Kuer donated two bighas of land to her daughter, Rangila Pandit of Neknam Tola under Barhara police station, planned to kill both the widows. On October 17, 2017, when Kanti Kuer was cooking food in the kitchen and Motijharo Kuer was sleeping in her room, Rangita Pandit killed them with axe and escaped.

Murder accused held : In another development, Bhojpur police arrested Harshit, mastermind in the murder of PACS president, Basauri panchayat under Tarari police station, Nagesh Pandey alias Chutkun Pandey, on July 10. He was arrested from Ara. It was said that he had killed Chhutkun Pandey to take revenge of murder of his uncle Munna Pandey.

SHO, Ara Muffassil police station, said that Harshit along with his associates fired 6 rounds on Nagesh Pandey alias Chhotkun Pandey between Jaisidih and Mainani Bazaar under Piro police station about a month ago killing him on the spot. Pandey was moving in his four wheeler. Police had made 11 persons named accused in this case.
