Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 22, 2018, night, reached the final of IPL 2018 defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 2 wickets in Qualifier 1 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, riding on an unbeaten 42 ball 67 with 5 fours and 4 sixes by Faf du Plessis, South Africa. Fast bowler Shardul Thakur also remained unbeaten on 15 in 5 ball hitting 3 fours. SRH will now play the winner of Eliminator match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scheduled for May 23, 2018, at Kolkata.

SRH dominated the match till 17th over. CSK had lost their 8th wicket at 113. But, SRH captain’s decision to hand over the ball to Carlos Brathwaite over proved a wrong decision as du Plessis hit him for 4 fours.

It was a match marked by poor batting by the top guns from both the sides. Dhawan, Williamson, Manish Pandey, all SRH, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, M S Dhoni, all CSK, flopped in the match.

CSK won the toss but opted to bowl. SRH scored 137/7 in 20 overs. CSK scored  140/8 in 19.1 overs.
