BSP leader shot dead in Buxar, son injured

Buxar : Some unidentified armed persons shot dead Buxar district General Secretary, Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) and former Mukhia, Nadav panchayat, Khuti Yadav, and injured his son Yashwant Kumar near Sugar Mill under Buxar Town Police Station on May 18, 2018, night.

Police brought the body to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem and admitted the injured there. Later, the doctor referred the injured to Varanasi Trauma Centre in view of his critical condition.

Irate villagers blocked the Kochas – Buxar road with the body on May 19 paralysing movement of vehicles for about two hours. They burnt tyres on road and raised slogans against Buxar district administration. They had a scuffle with police as well. They were demanding arrest of the miscreants and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officials.

Tension runs high in and around the area following the incident. The entire area has been cordoned off. An FIR has been lodged with Buxar Town police station but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

SHO, Buxar Town police station, said that Khuti Yadav after closing his medicine shop at Sarimpur, Buxar, was returning home along with his son Yashawant Kumar on his Scorpio to Lalganj but he had to stop the vehicle as Itadhi railway crossing near Sugar Mill was closed. In the meantime, some miscreants came and asked Khuti Yadav to slide down the windscreen of his vehicle. As he did so, the miscreants fired on him killing Khuti Yadav on the spot and injuring his son Yashwant Kumar and escaped towards Shantinagar.

Khuti Yadav had reportedly joined the BSP in 2017 and had two licenses for firearms issued in his name after he escaped two murderous attacks on his life twice. Police seized both the firearms from his vehicle.
