BJP fields Pradip Singh for bypoll to Araria parliamentary seat

Patna : Former MP Pradip Kumar Singh, 53, will be the BJP candidate from Araria parliamentary constituency the bypoll to which is scheduled for March 11, 2018. The seat had fallen vacant following the death of sitting RJD MP and former Union Minister Mohammad Taslimuddin.

Pradip Kumar Singh is  a native of village Kauvachar in Araria district. He was a Lok Sabha Member from 2009 to 2014. He lost to Taslimuddin in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. He was Member of Bihar Assembly too from 2005 to 2009. The RJD has fielded Taslimuddin’s son and former minister Sarfraz Alam from the seat. Alam, who was a JD(U) MLA, recently resigned his assembly seat to contest the bypoll on the RJD ticket.

Rinki Pandey will be the BJP candidate from Bhabhua assembly constituency the bypoll to which is also scheduled for March 11, 2018. The Bhabhua assembly seat fell vacant following the death of sitting BJP MLA Anand Bhushan Pandey. Rinki Pandey is wife of Anand Bhushan Pandey. From Grand Alliance, Congress is contesting the Bhabhua bypoll.

The candidature of Pradip Kumar Singh and Rinki Pandey was announced by Bihar BJP president Nityanand Rai, MP, here on February 19. The JD(U) is contesting the bypoll to Jehanabad assembly seat which fell vacant due to death of sitting RJD MLA Mundrika Singh Yadav.  Former MLA Abhiram Sharma is the JD(U) candidate from Jehanabad assembly constituency. The RJD has fielded Mundrika Singh Yadav’s son from the seat.
