Rafael Nadal, Wozniacki enter 3rd round of AO 2018

Patna: World Number one and top seed Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, entered the third round of Australian Open (AO) Championship 2018 defeating World Number 52 Leonardo Mayer, 30, Argentina, in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-6, in the second round. Nadal had lost in the final to Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, in five sets in 2017. Mayer put up tough fight in second and third sets. But, Rafa made ten unforced errors to Mayer’s 33 in the match.

In the Women’s section, Number two seed Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, also entered the third round of AO 2018 beating Jana Fett, 21, Croatia, in a very tough encounter 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. It is Wozniacki’s 11th appearance at the Australian Open. Jana Fett is ranked 119 in the world.  Wozniacki made 32 unforced errors to Jana Fett’s 58.
