Patna : New Zealand beat West Indies (WI) by 66 runs (under D/L method) in the rain curtailed 3rd ODI and final at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, Nea Zealand, on December 26, 2017, wrapping up the ODI series 3-0. The match was reduced to 23 overs a side due to rain

Batting first, New Zealand made 131/4 in 23 overs. Former New Zealand Captain Ross Taylor remained not out on 47 in 54 balls hitting 6 fours while H Nicholls remained unbeaten on 18 in 9 balls hitting 3 fours. Stand in New Zealand Captain and wicketkeeper Tom Latham made 37 in 42 balls hitting 5 fours while opener Colin Munro 21 in 19 balls hitting 3 fours. George Worker and N Broom made 2 each. For WI, S Cottrell took 2/19 in 6 overs, Captain Jason Holder 1/21 in 6 overs and N Miller 1/26 in 5 overs.

WI could make only 99/9 in 23 overs with Captain J Holder scoring 34 in 21 deliveries hitting 3 fours and a six while spinner Nikita Miller remained unbeaten on 20 in 41 balls hitting 1 four. Opener Chris Gayle made only 4 in 6 balls hitting a four while his partner C Walton was out for aduck. S Hope made 2 while K Hope made 1.  R Powel scored 11 in 23 deliveries and S Babriel remained not out on 12 in 20 balls hitting 1 four. The WI had to score 166 in 23 overs under the revised target (under Duckworth / Lewiz method) to win the match.

For New Zealand, fast bowler Trent Boult took 3/18 in 5 overs on a seaming track while Mitchell Santner took 3/15 in 5 overs. Fast bowler M Henry took 2/18 in 5 overs and Todd Astle 1/24 in 4 overs. Boult had taken 7/34 in the second ODI. Ross Taylor was declared Man of the Match.
